By 2020, governments target to pave out a roadmap of leveraging the latest technologies to empower patients and healthcare workers, to link up devices, to tap on the power of big data and artificial intelligence etc. Research results are needed to advance current e-health technologies, in order to provide smarter, safer and patient-oriented health services in the near future. IC-FeH stands for International Conference on Future e-Health which is a platform where professional experts and students from worldwide academia and industries meet and exchange ideas. Through IC-FeH, it is anticipated that ICT technologies could be improved, implemented and innovated to assist health care professionals expand and transform their organizations in the areas of e-Health, Telehealth, and Telemedicine.
IC-FeH 2019 is sponsored and hosted by the Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences. Technically it is sponsored by the SIG of e-Health, IEEE Communication Society, School of Nursing, Capital Medical University, DACC Lab of University of Macau, ICT Innovative Group of Durban University of Technology, South Africa and Biotechnology Department of Lakehead University, Canada.
Accepted and presented technical papers will be published in the IC-FeH 2019 Conference Proceedings by Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) with Springer. CCIS is abstracted/indexed in DBLP, Google Scholar, EI-Compendex, Mathematical Reviews, SCImago, and Scopus. CCIS volumes will also be submitted for the inclusion in ISI Proceedings (Web-of-Science).
In this year, IC-FeH will be hosted at Zhuhai Institute of Advanced Technology (ZIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). ZIAT was established as a member of the southern Chinese city's research & development institutional network, with the help of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology of CAS, and the government of Zhuhai. IC-FeH is one of the endeavours in driving Zhuhai's innovation strategy, cultivating local talents, integrating innovational resources of R&D institutes between Zhuhai and oversea, and enabling commercialization of scientific & technological achievements. ZIAT has lately moved to a new science park where world-class conference facilities would be available for participants of IC-FeH 2019. Within the new ZIAT premises, tutorial and workshops will be provided for conference participants.
Professor Dr. Sabah Mohammed, MSc(Glasgow,UK), PhD (Brunel,UK), MBCS,ISP,IEEE Senior Member and PEng, is leading the Smart Health Laboratory with the Computer Science Department of Lakehead University, Canada. Sabah was also a Visiting Scholar at the Math and Computer Science Department, Laurentian University (Winter 2008) and Sultan Qaboos University (Summer 2015). He is an active research member of Canada’s e-Health Interoperability group (http://www.simbioses.ca/ehealth/), the coordinator on Northern Ontario Web Intelligence Research Group (NOWI http://www2.cs.uregina.ca/~wi/) and a member of Ontario Partnership for Innovation and Commercialization (http://research.uoit.ca/opic-expertise/). Sabah is among the core faculty members of both the Lakehead University Bioinformatics and BioTechnology programs. Moreover, Sabah is an Adjunct Research Professor with the University of Western Ontario.
Professor. Dr. Richard C Millham is currently an Associate Professor at the Durban University of Technology, Department of Information Technology. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, MA from Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield, England, MSc from the University of Abertay in Dundee, Scotland, and PhD from De Montfort University in Leicester, England. He is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and Senior Member of IEEE. His latest research work include (1) Kestrel-based Search Algorithm and Long Short Term Memory Network for feature selection in classification of high-dimensional bioinformatics datasets, (2) comparative analysis of Smith-Waterman algorithm with Jaro-Winkler Algorithm for the detection of duplicate health related records, a scalable Bluetooth low energy design model for sensor detection for an indoor real time location system, and analysis of Bluetooth low energy detection range improvements for indoor hospital environments.
Professor Dr. Joao Alex Lobo Marques is the program coordinator of University of Saint Joseph (Macao). Professor Marques has extensive research experience in biomedical engineering. From 1992 to 2010, he was specialized in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering at Universidade Federal do Ceará, Brazil. He moved onto University of Technology Munich, Germany and University of Leicester, UK for research in bio-engineering in 2007 and 2011 respectively. Currently he is leading a number of e-Health projects, such as (1) heart rate variability and ECG analysis ; (2) biosignals real time analysis for educational applications; and (3) testing Gaussian-based kernels for modelling T-waves and P-waves in ECG signals. His latest research include novel approaches in heart rate variability analysis of normal and intrauterine growth restricted children, and nonlinear characterization and complexity analysis of cardiotocographic examinations.
